I have long wondered and now understand why cats end up as road kill more often than dogs. Cats can be single minded stalkers.I was driving neighborhood streets and witnessed a cat crawling across the road to sneak up on a bird. It was so focused on it's intended victim, that I had to stop my car to avoid running over it. It didn't notice my car at all.
The cat didn't get the bird after all. The fowl may live longer than the feline, at least in this neighborhood.
