Uneasy

President Bush attends a memorial service for the students gunned down at Virginia Tech the day after it happened. I can't help but wonder if he learned from his absence in the wake of Katrina to show up promply or people will see you as uncaring, or if it is a difference in demographics? I can honestly say, I don't know.

I am not a Bush hater. I believe he is a man who is basically good. But I think that what is coming to light is an attitude that may be carried by Bush, but most certainly by his administration and political base as placing loyalty and belief above competency, and its flaws are starting to be revealed.

I have to be honest and say that I feel bad for the way some of the people in the country attack him. I think he probably is a good person, but (like all of us have done in our lives) has made bad decisions. Unfortunately...his decisions affect not just his family and friends, not just our nation but the world. That's a lot to hold on one's shoulders.

As for his going to the ceremony...I don't know what it is. I am glad he took the time to be there, but what does that show? What is that all about? We lose that amount of soldiers in a week (sometimes daily) and he's not at their funerals or services. Hmm...I just feel like this is exploiting the situation again.
